A number of years ago the Icelandic ban Sigur Ros took advantage of the Summer Solstice and the near 24 hours of daylight to tour the entire country performing in various cities over the 24 hour period.

In celebration of 3,000 shows and the release of a new album – “Undefeated” – on May 3 Frank Turner is launching a whirl wind tour to set a world record of the most performances in a 24 hour period.

Over the 24 hour period of May 5, Turner is looking to set the record for the most concerts in different cities with 15 UK shows.

Turner is hoping to break Hunter Hayes record of 10 shows.  Turner will visit independent record stores and grassroots venues where he will play for at least 20 minutes each show.  At the end of the 24 hour period, Turner will have travelled nearly 500 miles.

The Flaming Lips first set the record with eight shows in a 24 hour period; then Hunter Hayes set a new record with 10.  But Turner is looking to set a new record with 15 shows.

Turner spoke on his upcoming adventure saying, “with nearly 3000 shows under my belt, I’ve never been one to do things by halves or shirk a challenge – I once played all 50 American states in 50 days, for goodness sake. For the release of my tenth studio album, ‘Undefeated’, I will be making an attempt at a world record: the most number of shows in different cities in 24 hours. It’s not just self-promotion either. We’re working with 13 independent record shops and 15 independent grassroots music venues for the shows, highlighting two bits of the infrastructure of the underground that I care about most. It’s going to be tough, but hopefully fun too. Come down for a show!”
