Native American actor Moses Brings Plenty has been presented the inaugural New Horizons Lifetime Achievement Award from the Western Heritage Awards for his work as an actor and continuing the heritage of the American West through his acting.
In accepting the award, the Oglala Lakota actor said, “I dedicate this award to my nephew Cole Brings Plenty, who was my mini-me. I am thankful to my wife, family, friends and each and every one of you. Thank you to Teton Ridge and others that are starting to open up the door for American Indian culture to be presented in parallel along with Western culture because we are parallel and we are one.”
The actor’s nephew Cole Brings Plenty was recently found dead after going missing for several days.
While best knows for his portrayal as Mo on the popular western “Yellowstone”, Brings Plenty has made appearance in numerous productions including “Lawman: Bas Reeves”, “Wildfire: The Legend of the Cherokee Ghost Horse”, “Jurassic World Dominion”, “The Good Lord Bird”, “The American West”, “Hell on Wheels”, and “The Cherokee Word for Water”.
When not acting, Brings Plenty can be found working on his ranch, has been a horse stunt rider, a Native American storyline consultant, advocating for the environment and preservation for future generations, and preservation of Native cultures.
The Western Heritage Awards is dedicated to recognizing those who “make significant contributions” to Western Heritage through the arts.
Also honoured at the 63rd annual gala were a Lifetime Achievement Award for Reba McEntire with Keith Carradine, Noah Beery Jr, and John Smith’s induction into the Hall of Great Western Performers.
