There are two places where it can be dangerous for me to go…even if I am just window shopping because hours can go by without me even realizing it – the record store and the music store.
Granted that these days finding a good old fashioned record (CD) store is like looking for the proverbial needle in a haystack; but they do exist. One such place is a place in Rochester, New York called the Record Archive. Now housed in an old warehouse, there is LOTS of space for CD’s, records, and other memorabilia. They sell used CD’s for just $5 each. And it isn’t hard to find a whole stack of them! When I lived in Rochester and would visit the store, I would have to limit how much money I was going to spend and there were always more CD’s than the budget allowed. 🙂 I could do a good bit of damage to a shopping allowance in that store!
The Record Archive even has an appropriate address 33 1/3 Rockwood St.
The other place where I could spend a few hours is a music store; especially if they had a lot of different instruments. There is a Guitar Center not too far away but as the name implies, there are mostly guitars in the store. They also have some drums, percussion instruments, and keyboards; aw well as accessories and some music; but I would love to find a store where they have lots of international instruments; especially a set of uilleann pipes and a hammered dulcimer. I could go with an acoustic bass too.
I knew someone who before her son learned how to drive said that if he wanted to go to the guitar store, she would have to plan on three or four hours…sounds about right!
I have a bunch of various “noise makers” (shakers, etc) but there is always room for more. 🙂
Admittedly, the fabric and craft store are good for a few hours but not quite as much as a music store.
