With Daytona behind them, NASCAR moves to Atlanta for a second week of fast paced racing. All three series will be racing this weekend with the Truck Series and Xfinity Series will run a doubleheader on Saturday.
But first, the Craftsman Truck Series must qualify on Friday afternoon. Again this week the drivers take to the track with no practice.
Only 33 teams brought trucks to Atlanta for the race including the first of five races for Cup Series champion Kyle Busch.
The first qualifying session for the Truck Series since 2018, Mason Maggio is the first truck on the track to make a qualifying run and posted a time of 32.745 seconds around the mile and a half track.

First up is Chase Purdy with a time of 32,219 seconds on a windy afternoon.
With a time of 31.992 seconds, Ty Majeski is the first driver to break the 32 second mark.
Making a run of 31.817 (174.246mph) Daniel Dye puts his number 43 truck on the pole for his first career pole.

Stages one and two of the race are just 30 laps long with stage three lasting 75 laps for a total of 135 laps around the mile and a half track. Drivers can run 58 to 62 laps on a single load of fuel.
Daniel Dye brings the field down for the green flag start of the race from the outside row with Tyler Ankrum alongside. Ankrum takes the lead initially but Ty Majeski gets out in front on the outside lane to take the lead.
Lap three, Tyler Ankrum gets the lead with Kyle Busch in second; Ty Majeski, Christian Eckes, and Chase Purdy round out the top five.
Reports are that the wind will be gusting up to 40mph.
Lap six, Tyler Ankrum has the lead but Kyle Busch is challenging on the inside row.
Lap seven the top five are Tyler Ankrum, Kyle Busch, Chase Purdy, TY Majeski, and Christian Eckes.
Lap eight, Kyle Busch takes the lead with Christian Eckes in second; Tyler Ankrum, Chase Purdy, and Ty Majeski round out the top five.
Lap eleven, Christian Eckes takes the lead; Kyle Busch falls to fourth place.
Lap 16, Keith McGee brings out the first caution flag of the race when he spins out with a loose truck. He was being lapped at the time he spun out and took a ride down the track.
Several of the drivers come down pit road to top off the fuel tank in order to make it to the end of stage two.
Connor Jones and Lawless Alan have some damage to their trucks.
Of the 20 laps run so far, Christian Eckes has led half of them.

Leader Christian Eckes reports that he has no brakes.
Like Daytona, the double line at the apron of the track is the “no go” line. Drivers may not go below that line and advance their position or they will have to serve a penalty

Drivers come down pit road for service. Christian Eckes has trouble getting on pit road with no brakes. He has to make two tries to get the truck to stop and still has to back up to get into his stall. He reported fluid on the floorboard of his truck.

Christian Eckes is back in the field one lap down still dealing with brake issues.
Lap 38, the top five are Tyler Ankrum, Grant Efinger, Tanner Gray, Kyle Busch, and Nick Sanchez.
The drivers are running laps faster than their qualifying runs that were around 172mph.
Lap 43, Kyle Busch takes the lead with Tyler Ankrum in second.
Christian Eckes reports that if the caution flag comes out, he will have to put his truck into the wall to slow down and stop. He has no brakes.
Lap 46, Kyle Busch leads the race with Tyler Ankrum in second; Grant Efinger, Tanner Gray, and Corey Heim round out the top five.
Connor Jones has returned to the track after the crew made repairs but he is six laps down.
Lap 49, Thad Moffitt brings out the caution flag when he tries to put his truck in a hole that wasn’t really there; Layne Riggs and Jake Garcia were also involved.
Several drivers come down pit road for service including Christian Eckes who cannot get the truck stopped. Once he finally slows down, he take the truck to the garage for repairs.
While several drivers are reporting a loose condition; Matt Crafton is reporting a tight condition.
Kyle Busch brings the field down for the green flag restart on lap 55 with Tyler Ankrum alongside and gets out in front for the lead.
Kyle Busch, Tyler Ankrum, Grant Enfinger, and Tanner Gray have yet to make a pit stop.
Jack Wood brings out the caution flag on lap 59 when he spins out. He is stopped in the grass with some significant damage to his truck. Wood is out of his truck and heading for the mandatory ride to the infield care center.

Lap 70, Tyler Ankrum has the lead with Grant Enfinger in second. The two drivers swap the lead back and forth.
Lap 72, the top five are Tyler Ankrum, Matt Mills, Dean Thompson, Taylor Gray, and Corey Heim. Kyle Busch has fallen out of the top 10.
Lap 76, Stewart Friesen scrapes the wall and the track stays green.
Lap 77, Tyler Ankrum leads the race with Matt Mills in second; Dean Thompson, Taylor Gray, and Corey Heim round out the top five.
Lap 79, Rajah Caruth is slowed on the track and works his way to pit road but stays out on the track when the caution flag comes out for debris on the track.
Drivers are withing their window to make a pit stop and make it to the end of the race.

Grant Enfinger had a slow pit stop when he started to leave before service – fueling – was complete.

Matt Mills’ truck is smoking after getting into the wall and has to head down pit road.

The caution flag comes out on lap 95 for debris on the track. The debris was a piece of Bayley Currey’s roof. He will have to go the garage.
