Come up with a crazy business idea.
When it comes to crazy business ideas, I think a former president has us all licked…selling pieces of a suit worn while being booked for a criminal charge! It’s a bit hard to top that one but I live in a tourist town and there is never a shortage of harebrained ideas floating around, all in the name of making money.
But here goes…
The Florida State Seminoles have a tradition where when they have a big win in an opponents stadium, they have to dig up a piece of the sod – a small piece – and bring it back home to Tallahassee where they place it a small box – actually a coffin – and bury it in the Sod Cemetery! Currently there are over 100 bronze plaques signifying buried pieces of sod in the cemetery from historic wins.
Each year millions of people travel from all around the globe to get a look at the majestic Niagara Falls. So why couldn’t some of those people take home a small memento of their trip other than the spray that ends up on them and their clothes after a trip on the Maid of the Mist or down to the Cave of the Winds???
The water that runs over The Falls – there are three of them – began its journey thousands of miles away in Lake Superior. By the time the water reaches Niagara, it has travelled through four of the five Great Lakes and is on its way to the fifth when it tumbles over the 182 foot drop.
Obviously capturing any of the water from the Falls themselves is a very dangerous venture, but just half a mile up the river is still water before it hits the rapids.
The idea???
Collect a bit if that water – a couple of spoons fulls – in a small bottle and seal it. Label the bottle as actual authentic water from the majestic Falls of the Niagara River – actually it’s a strait because it connects two bodies of water – and sell it in the souvenir shops.
I’m sure it would “fly” off the shelves and it would make a great ice breaker or conversation starter at that next dinner party.
