The IROC Series ran from 1973 to 2006. It had 12 cars that were set up identically and pit the best drivers across the various racing formats.
Co-owner of the SRX – a similarly formatted racing series that runs solely on short tracks – has purchased the IROC brand along with Race Team Alliance chairman Rob Kauffman. The duo intend to run the series again beginning later this year.
Along with the traditional IROC format, the new ownership is “exploring future opportunities”.
The new IROC company will be based in Mooresville, North Carolina.
