After a record setting week on Broadway, the numbers have dropped by over 30 percent – or more like a normal week on the Great White Way.
Even with the drop in numbers 15 of the 26 shows currently running topped a million at the box office with three of them earning over $2 million. And all but six of those shows had 90 percent capacity in attendance with six of them reaching the 100 percent mark or more.
“The Lion King” continued its dominance in the number one spot with a box office draw of $2.44 million with “Wicked”, “Sweeney Todd”, and “Hamilton” also earning at least $2 million; “Merrily We Roll Along” with $1.79 million rounded out the top five.
“Some Like it Hot” closed last week and “Shucked” is set to close on January 14; but there “Days of Wine and Roses” has just opened in previews and has sold out both of its performances.
