The strikes are over and Hollywood is getting back to its usual glitz and glamour self, including award shows.

Normally airing in September, the annual Prime Time Emmy Awards were postponed due to the Writers Guild and actors SAG-AFTRA strikes.  The awards gala has been rescheduled for January 15 (a Monday night) with eight time NAACP Image Awards host and actor Anthony Anderson making his debut as the host.

This year FOX will be carrying the awards presentations as the four major broadcast networks perform a merry-go-round of presentation.  Awards presenters will be named in the coming weeks.

When the Emmy Awards debuted in 1949 only five awards were handed out. This year the network HBO earned a whopping 74 nominations with the drama series “Succession” leading the way with 27 nominations including three of the five top actor nominations. “The Last of Us”, “The White Lotus”, and “Ted Lasso” also earned over 20 nominations each.

This year a total of 38 actors have earned nominations for the first time.

Pedro Pascal, Murray Bartlett, Alex Borstein, Quinta Brunson, Bill Hader, Sharon Horgan, Melanie Lynskey, Melanie Lynskey, Jason Sudeikis, and Ali Wong all earned more than one nomination.
