During the Craftsman Truck Series this past season GMS Racing announced that they would be closing down their operation at the end of the 2023 season. The announcement left Daniel Dye, Rajah Caruth, and Grant Enfinger without a ride.
Daniel Dye has since announced that he has signed a contract but has given no details or for whom he would be driving.
Rajah Caruth has yet to make any announcement about his future.
On December 12 Grant Enfinger announced that he has signed a deal with CR7 Motorsports to drive the number nine truck in the Craftsman Truck Series beginning next season.
CR7 has an alliance with Chevrolet and McAnally-Hilgemann Racing. Grant County Mulch and Champion Power Equipment have signed on as the primary sponsors for the truck.
The move marks a return to CR7 for Enfinger who drove for the team in the ARCA Menards Series and the early days of his career as a Truck Series driver.
Enfinger, who won three races during the 2023 season and finished in second place in the standings behind Truck Series champion Ben Rhodes, spoke on the new deal saying, “I am extremely excited about this opportunity. I have known Codie and his family for a long time and they have become like family to me.”
CR7 Motorsports Codie Rohrbaugh added, “when the opportunity came along, I knew that Grant was the perfect choice. With our efforts to elevate our racing program in 2024, I am confident in what Grant will bring to the team.”
Jeff Stankiewicz will serve as Enfinger’s crew chief; the two were paired together earlier in their careers.
Enfinger added, “I feel like we have all the right pieces in place. With Chevrolet’s help and support, we were able to put this together and have the resources it takes to truly win races and contend for championships. I am expecting growing pains, but I also foresee performance from the beginning I can’t say thank you enough to everyone that made this happen. Especially Codie and the entire Grant County Mulch family and everyone at Champion Power Equipment. I am extremely excited about this next chapter in my career and couldn’t be more happy about my decision.”
