NASCAR requires a great number of engineers in order to make the sport a success.  Engineers are responsible for designing the cars and keeping them running; including the aerodynamics required to make the cars run.

This year, NASCAR entered the Le Mans 24 Hours endurance race under the Garage 56 program.  The entry was based on the Next Gen car used in the Cup Series for the past two years.

The Garage 56 program was a collaboration between Hendrick Motorsports, Chevrolet, and Goodyear to produce a modified Chevy Camaro ZL1.  Jenson Button, Jimmie Johnson, and Mike Rockenfeller shared the driving duties for the 24 hour race.

For their efforts, those engineers were presented with the Dino Toso Racecar Aerodynamicist of the Year Award.

The award presentation was a part of the Race Tech World Motorsport Symposium held at the Embassy of Switzerland in London.  NASCAR Vice President of Vehicle Performance Dr. Eric Jacuzzi and NASCAR VP of Vehicle Design Brandon Thomas were on hand to receive the award.

The NASCAR engineers beat out the Formula One Oracle Red Bull Racing team and the Le Mans winning Scuderia Ferrari 499P Hypercar team.

A global panel of industry experts were the judges for the award.
