The song says, “it’s a man’s world, but would be nothing without a woman or a girl.”

That statement is very true this year when it comes to the annual Grammy Award nominations that were released on November 10.  Women dominate the top major categories this year with SZA leading the way with a total of nine nominations that include Song, Record, and Album of the Year.

But SZA’s nine nominations are not the most for the 66th annual awards…the box office smash hit “Barbie” earns a total of eleven nominations including a dominance of the Visual Media category with four of the five nominations.

Phoebe Bridgers, boygenius, Taylor Swift, Olivia Rodrigo, Miley Cyrus, Billie Eilish, Brandy Clark, Jon Batiste, and Jack Antonoff also earned multiple nominations.

Some of the most recent chart toppers are not among the nominees due to the fact that the cut off date for eligible music was September 15, 2023.  Anything released after that date will be eligible next year.

Three new categories join the list this year – Best African Music Performance, Best Pop Dance Recording, and Best Alternative Jazz Album – for a total of 94 awards.

The 66th annual Grammy Award ceremonies are scheduled for February 4, 2024 at the Crypto.com Arena with a live television broadcast on CBS and Paramount+.

After some recent controversies over the voting process and how votes were cast, the Recording Academy has implemented a number of policies to ensure more transparency in the voting process.
