As expected, the Joe Gibbs Racing number 54 team has had two of its crew members suspended for the next two races after one of the wheels came off of the car driven by Ty Gibbs during the South Point 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Sunday.
According to the new rules put in place by NASCAR, the two crew members involved with the loss of the tire have had their suspensions reduced from four to two races with the crew chief no longer being suspended. New to the penalty is holding the driver for two laps when the tire comes off on the racing surface during green flag laps.
As a result, jackman Braxton Brannon and front tire changer Jackson Gibbs have been suspended and will be available to return to the track on the final race of the year at Phoenix Raceway.
There were no further penalties in eight the Xfinity or Cup Series this past week.
