In a rare move, NASCAR has reinstated Ryan Blaney’s finish, points, and stage points from the race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

After the race on Sunday, NASCAR had disqualified Blaney after his number 12 ca failed the post race inspection process.  As a result of the disqualification, Blaney was stripped of his race finish and points; placing his in last place.

The decision was made after further inspection of the number 12 Team Penske car.  Originally NASCAR had stated that the left front shock on the number 12 car “did not meet the overall specified length.

Upon further review at NASCAR’s R&D Center in Concord, North Carolina, it was determined that there was an issue with the damper template that was used during the inspection process.  After a detailed investigation, NASCAR has restored Blaney’s race finish and all points earned during the race.  NASCAR has stated that steps are being taken to “remedy this issue moving forward.”

While still below the “cut line”, Blaney is now in seventh place just 17 points below the line instead of being in last place, 56 points down.

While making it to the round of eight three times, Blaney has never been a part of the Championship Four.
