This past weekend NASCAR helped to celebrate the Labor Day Weekend with races from the Xfinity and Cup Series drivers.  While the Cup Series race started out quiet and calm with a green stage one, things got wilder as the race went on with half of the 16 playoff drivers involved in at least one on track incident and ended up with an overtime finish that brought Kyle Larson his first ever Darlington win…and a guaranteed spot in the next round of the playoffs. 

A Sunday night race, NASCAR had to red flag the race in stage two when the lights along the outside of the track in turns three and four went out; causing a safety issue for the drivers who run inches from the outside wall.

Going into the playoffs, William Byron and Martin Truex Jr were tied with 2,036 points but after a loose wheel put Truex a lap down Byron holds the lead by one point over race winner Kyle Larson.
