There are just three more races in the Xfinity Series regular season and this week the drivers travel to one of the most iconic tracks on the NASCAR circuit at Daytona International Speedway for the Wawa 250.

Eight of the 12 playoff positions have been secured by race wins with several drivers in a “bubble battle” for the four remaining spots.

No one will go home this week with 38 drivers for 38 starting spots in the race for some Friday night racing including Cup Series driver Justin Haley.  Trevor Bayne comes out of the television studio to make a run at Daytona.  He was the youngest driver to ever win the Daytona 500.

Jeb Burton, Parker Retzlaff, Justin Allgaier, Ryan Sieg, and Jordan Anderson all had multiple inspection issues.  All five drivers will have to start the race from the back of the field, lose their pit stall selections for Darlington next week, and will have to serve a pass through penalty one the race begins.  In addition, Jordan Anderson and Ryan Sieg were not allowed to make a qualifying run.

Jeb Burton is the first driver on the track for single car qualifying, driving a car with a paint scheme once driven by his father Ward.  He posted a time of 49.782 seconds.

Kyle Sieg is also driving a throwback car, carrying a paint scheme from Davey Allison.

The drivers had no practice on the high banked two and a half mile track and only get one lap to make their best time for the top 10 and a chance for the pole in round two of qualifying.

Larry McReynolds returns to Daytona, not as a part of a broadcast crew but as the crew chief for Jordan Anderson.

Chandler Smith, Sammy Smith, Parker Kligerman, Daniel Hemric, Trevor Bayne, Austin Hill, Sheldon Creed, Cole Custer, John Hunter  Nemechek, and Justin Haley will all move on to round two of qualifying and a battle for the pole.

The first of the top 10 drivers on the track for round two is John Hunter Nemechek with a time of 49.712 seconds.

With a time of 49.256 seconds, nearly three tenths faster than the second place driver, Austin Hill puts his number 21 car on the pole.  Sheldon Creed will start alongside on the front row.
