As the 2022-23 Broadway season comes to a close, more productions are closing down.

The Britney Spears show “Once Upon a One More Time” will hold its final performance on September 3 after 123 performances.

Producers James L Nederlander and Hunter Arnold issued a joint statement on the musical saying, “we could not be prouder of this beautifully joyous and exhilarating show—which is not only a love letter to Britney’s iconic artistry and singular effervescence, but also a brilliant display of the boundless talent of our cast and creative team.  We want to express our heartfelt gratitude to this dream team of collaborators, performers, designers, staff, crew, and Investors who continue to share our passion and joy for this project. As plans take shape for the show’s future life around the globe, we’re excited to share more news soon!”

While shows like “The Lion King”, “Wicked”, and “Hamilton” continue to fill the theaters and are consistently listed in the million dollar club, the Britney Spears themed musical has had a lackluster run.

The immersive production “The Great Gatsby” is set to end its current run at the Park Central Hotel on August 27.

The ballroom was converted into a replica of the Gatsby Mansion for performances that allowed audiences members to wander around the “mansion” and interact with the actors.  The show would have held a total of 88 performances when it closes.  However, the show is hoping the return at a new, as yet undetermined location.
While “Once Upon a One More Time” and “The Great Gatsby”; along with “Good Night, Oscar” set to close in the coming days; Broadway fans will have plenty to celebrate September 8-10 with “Curtain Up” – a three day festival of Broadway.

On September 10, the festival will close out with “The Curtain Up! LIVE from Broadway that will include music from several current and upcoming productions including “& Juliet”, “A Beautiful Noice, the Neil Diamond Musical”, “Aladdin”, “Back to the Future: The Musical”, “The Book of Mormon”, “Chicago”, The Cottage”, “Hadestown”, “Harmony”, “How to Dance in Ohio”, “Jaja’s African Hair Braiding”, “Kimberly Akimbo”, “The Lion King”, “Moulin Rouge! The Musical”, “The Shark is Broken”, “Shucked” “SIX”, “Some Like it Hot”, “Spamalot”, and “Wicked”.  More shows may announced in the coming days.
