It’s the last night of the season on Thursday Night Thunder where the SRX Racing Series travels to Lucas Oil Speedway in Missouri for some dirt track racing.

Ryan Newman and Tony Stewart will battle it out for the championship.  Newman has a 39 point advantage over Stewart going into the final event.

Joining Tony Stewart and Ryan Newman this week are Jonathan Davenport, Hailie Deegan, Ken Schrader, Brad Keselowski, Helio Castroneves, Marco Andretti, Bobby Labonte, Ernie Frances Jr, Clint Bowyer, and Kenny Wallace.

After a random draw, Jonathan Davenport will sit on the pole and bring the field to the green flag for heat one. 

The two heats are 25 green flag laps or 14 minutes in length.  The field is inverted for heat number two.  The starting order for the 90 lap main event is determined by the average of finishes for both heats.

Lap three the drivers are already making contact with each other.  Helio Castroneves has a flat tire and has to come to pit road.

The top five are Jonathan Davenport, Hailie Deegan, Brad Keselowski, Ken Schrader, and Tony Stewart.

After starting in the back of the field, Clint Bowyer has moved up six spots in eleven laps.

The caution flag comes out on lap eleven.

Jonathan Davenport brings the field down for the green flag restart but after some contact with Brad Keselowski, Ken Schrader takes the lead and pulls away from the field.

With his eighth place finish – two in front of Tony Stewart – Ryan Newman wins the 2023 SRX championship to join Tony Stewart and Marco Andretti as champions.

Helio Castroneves will sit on the pole for heat number two with Bobby Labont alongside on the front row.

Helio Castroneves brings the field down for the green flag start of heat number two and battles with Bobby Labonte for the lead with Labonte taking the spot.

Kenny Wallace comes up to take second with Helio Castroneves, Tony Stewart, and Erinie Frances Jr rounding out the top five.

Lap six, Jonathan Davenport has been riding the high line and is in sixth place with a three wide battle for fifth.

Lap eight, Kenny Wallace comes up to battle with Bobby Labonte for the lead.

Jonathan Davenport has moved up to fourth place.

Ryan Newman comes down pit road for some service and adjustments.
