With “Good Night, Oscar” set to close at the end of the month, the play continues to break its own box office records. This past week was the fifth in a row that the play increased its weekly revenues…and with only seven performances a week…to just shy of $1 million.
The new musical “Here Lies Love” also fell just short of the million dollar mark.
“Back to the Future” continues to draw crowds and has been a part of the million dollar club even while it was in previews.
Once again, “The Lion King” roars to the top of the list, drawing nearly two and a half million at the box office. While “Hamilton”, “Funny Girl”, and “Wicked” fell just short of $2 million at the box office. “Sweeney Todd” starring Josh Groban grossed over a million and a half.
With the closure of “Parade”, there were just 25 productions running on Broadway last week with 18 of them reaching at least 90 percent capacity. “Hamilton” and “Hadestown” saw capacity crowds of over 100 percent.
Eleven productions were a part of the million dollar club this past week:
“The Lion King”
“Hamilton”
“Funny Girl”
“Wicked”
“Sweeney Todd”
“Aladdin”
“MJ The Musical”
“Harry Potter and the Cursed Child”
“Back to the Future”
“&. Juliet”
“Moulin Rouge! The Musical”
