After NASCAR moved the restart line for the road course at Indianapolis to avoid the melee that was turn one, the drivers ran a very clean race on Sunday with just one caution flag for a major incident when Justin Haley went into the tire barrier.  While there were several cars who finished the race not on the lead lap; all 39 cars completed the race.

Even with a seventh place finish, Martin Truex Jr holds on to the points and playoff points lead.

With Michael McDowell winning the race, there are now 13 different drivers to win a race this season; leaving only three open spots in the playoffs and two races left in the regular season.

Sharing a double header with the IndyCar race, the Xfinity Series also ran a very clean race with very few caution flags.  Cup Series regular Ty Gibbs returned to the Xfinity Series and dominated the race for the win.  Austin Hill retakes the points lead with 849 points – eleven points in front of John Hunter Nemechek who continues to lead the playoff points with 2,040.
