The summer is nearly half over and over a quarter of a million people attended a Broadway production last week. “Life of Pi”, “Peter Pan Goes Wrong”, and “Camelot” all gave their final shows on July 23. The 30 shows that ran last week on Broadway brought in over $31 million at the Box Office with some shows seeing their highest numbers yet including “Back to the Future” which is still in previews.
“Parade” set a record last week when it brought in $1,3 million over eight performances. The musical is set to close on August 6. Since opening “Parade” has failed to reach the million dollar mark only three times and that was during previews when the theater comps tickets to the media.
Still in previews, “Back to the Future” continues to climb up the list each week; last week over eleven thousand musical fans watched the stage production of the hit film starring Michael J Fox as Marty McFly. The official open is set for August 3.
“The Lion King” continues to top the Million Dollar Club as the only musical to top two million with $2.47 million last week.
The Million Dollar Club:
“The Lion King”
“Wicked”
“Hamilton”
“Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street”
“MJ The Musical”
