On June 28 the National Motorsports Appeals Panel upheld the June 7 penalty issued to the Legacy Motor Club. Umber 43 car driven by Erik Jones for a modified greenhouse area of the car.  The penalty was assessed after the race at World Wide Technology Raceway.

In explanation, the panel said, “the penalty was consistent with previously assessed penalties for similar situations. The rule book is clear that teams are not allowed to modify single-source parts, and therefore the penalty was upheld.”

An L1 penalty, Jones has been docked 60 driver and five playoff points, Legacy Motor Club has also been docked 60 car owner points and five playoff points.  Crew chief Dave Elenz has been fined $75,000 and suspended for two races.  Jones currently sits in 30th place in the point standings with 220 points.

While LMC has the right to make a final appeal with the National Motorsports Appeals Panel, they have not stated whether or not they will file that appeal.
