NASCAR ended a swing of short track races with a triple header weekend at Martinsville Speedway. 

It was a historic weekend when the Craftsman Truck Series ran the first ever race on a short track with wet weather tires.  While the Truck Series did not run under full rain conditions, the trucks began the race while the track was still “damp”.

On Sunday, Chase Elliott returned to the track after being away for six weeks with a broken leg.

After a number of years of not making a good showing at Martinsville, Kyle Larson finally got his first win and brought Hendrick Motorsports one victory closer to the 300 win milestone.   

With his Martinsville win, Kyle Larson became the second driver this season to win more than one race – Larson and his HMS teammate William Byron each have two wins.

While Kyle Larson won the race, Christopher Bell holds on to the points lead with 302 points; he also leads in the playoff standings with 2,020 points.
