Billboard Magazine is the standard when it comes to tracking the sale of music and charting those sales. In recent years, music streaming to the tallies with 1,500 streams of a song equaling one sale and 1,500 streams of songs from an album as one album sale.
But Billboard has one chart that tracks only the physical sales of an album. It should be noted that 20 percent of the top 100 albums have spent from nearly 200 weeks to over 600 weeks on the chart!
This week Melanie Martinez tops the “Top Album Sales” chart with her album “Portals” in its first week on the chart.
