Back before there was such a term as a residency for artists, Eri Clapton had an extended engagement at the Royal Albert Hall in London back in 1991.

Over 30 years later, Clapton is releasing a limited edition boxed set of “The Definitive 24 Nights” that expands the original release.

Set for a June 23 release, the package includes six CD’s and three Blu-Rays or eight LP’s and three Blu-Rays.  There will also be a two CD/DVD and vinyl sets available.

Clapton first appeared on the stage at Royal Albert Hall as a member of The Yardbirds in 1964; since that time he has given more than 200 performances at RAH.

In his 1991 record setting 24 night performances, he performed one of three sets each night – a Blues show, a Rock show, and an Orchestral show…with three different bands.

The original “24 Nights in October 1991” release was a double album and a video that covered only a fraction of the performances.

“The Definitive 24 Nights” limited edition release features some six hours of music that includes three dozen previously unreleased tracks including the 30 minute “Concerto For Guitar” that was composed especially for Clapton.  The package includes a full concert from each of the three themed performances – Blues, Rock, and Orchestral; all of which have been restored and updated.

Along with the six CD’s or eight LP’s; each limited edition set comes with three Blue-Ray videos, a hardcover book, and a numbered lithograph of Clapton.

A two CD/DVD or three LP package featuring each genre concert – Blues, Rock, and Orchestral – will also be available.

Johnnie Johnson, Jimmie Vaughan, Chuck Leavell, Phil Collins, Robert Cray, Buddy Guy, Albert Collins, Nathan East, Greg Phillinganes, Steve Ferrone, Ray Cooper, Jerry Portnoy, and the National Philharmonic Orchestra all joined Clapton on the Royal Albert Hall performances during the 24 nights of performances.
