This weekend NASCAR runs three races in two cities when the Xfinity and Cup Series race the short track at Richmond Raceway; while the Truck Series races in Texas.

Set for some early morning racing to qualify for the ToyotaCare 250, the Xfinity Series was cancelled due to rain.  As a result, the field has been set according to NASCAR’s metric that includes finish at the previous race, fastest laps, and points.  JR Motorsports driver of the number seven Justin Allgaier will sit on the pole and bring the field to green.

The Dash-4-Cash returns for 2023.  The road course race at Circuit of the Americas set the field of drivers for the first race at Richmond with Sammy Smith, Justin Allgaier, Daniel Hemric, and Sam Mayer all competing for $100,000 prize.  The Dash-4-Cash is open only to full time Xfinity Series drivers.  The four drivers who qualified at COTA were the top Xfinity Series finishers behind the three Cup Series drivers.

The top four Xfinity Series regulars who finish the race at Richmond will qualify for the next Dash-4-Cash race.  Justin Allgaier, Sam Mayer, and Daniel Hemric have all won Dash-4-Cash races; only Sammy Smith has never been a part of the Dash-4-Cash race who at 18 is the youngest of the drivers.

And Josh Williams returns after his one week suspension for parking his car on the start/finish line at Atlanta after he was told by NASCAR to take the car to the garage when the tape on his car came off and brought out a caution flag.  It was a cold weekend and the tape would not stick but Williams was parked anyway and later suspended for a week.

And he delivered some pizzas to the NASCAR hauler.

Forty teams brought cars to Richmond for 38 starting spots with Dawson Cram and Kyle Weatherman unable to make the race.
