This week has seen numerous moves by various NASCAR teams as they sign part-time and “wringers” for specialty races this season. Formula One drivers Jensen Button and Kimi Raikkonnen are joining NASCAR regulars at Circuit of the Americas.
On Thursday it was announced that Late Model dirt racer Jonathan Davenport will be driving the number 13 car for Kaulig Racing at Bristol Motor Speedway for the dirt race next month.
In a new announcement, Davenport will not be the only dirt racing expert running at Bristol.
Late Model Dirt racer Tyler Carpenter will be driving in the Craftsman Truck Series dirt race at Bristol for Niece Motorsports in the number 41 truck.
The event will mark a return to the Truck Series for Carpenter who made his debut in the Truck Series last season at Knoxville Raceway.
Carpenter spoke on making his return to NASCAR and the Truck Series saying, “I’m really excited for another opportunity to get back behind the wheel of one of these trucks. I’m thankful for the opportunity from Niece Motorsports, Precision Vehicle Logistics, AutoVentive and Worldwide Express. I learned a lot about these trucks last season and definitely feel like we have something to prove this year.”
Niece Motorsports General Manager Cody Efaw added, “we are thrilled to have Tyler back behind the wheel this season. Tyler learned a lot last season at Knoxville in the truck that I think will help him this year at Bristol. We expect that with his vast dirt experience and what he learned last year in the truck that he will be in contention for a win at Bristol. We’re thankful to everyone at Precision Vehicle Logistics, AutoVentive and Worldwide Express for the support.”
