On a beautiful Friday afternoon, the Xfinity Series takes to the track for a practice session and qualifying for the Alsco Uniforms 300. 

Forty teams brought cars to Las Vegas for 38 starting spots at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

With a very busy weekend, Kyle Busch comes from putting his truck on the pole to hop into the number 10 Chevrolet for Kaulig Racing.

JR Motorsports driver Josh Berry is in a backup car and no matter how well he qualifies will have to start the race from the back of the field.  Cole Custer, Gray Gaulding, Brandon Jones, and Kyle Busch are also driving a backup car.

CJ McLaughlin gets loose during practice and spins out; bringing out the red flag after he hits the outside wall and has to be towed back to the garage.

Sore knee and all, Daniel Hemric leads the field after a 20 minute practice session.

Ryan Vargas is the first driver on the track to make a qualifying run and posts a time of 31.326 seconds around the mile and a half track.

Kyle Weatherman is taking over the driving duties for David Starr this weekend.

With a time of 29.989 seconds, Sheldon Creed is the first driver to break the 30 second mark around the track.

With a time of 29.489 seconds, Chandler Smith sits on the pole and will brings the field to green with JRM driver Justin Allgaier five thousandths of a second behind will start on the front row.  This weekend in Las Vegas, Allgaier and his wife will celebrate their seventeenth wedding anniversary.

Ryan Vargas and Mason Maggio failed to make the race.

Kyle Busch is the winningest driver in the Xfinity Series with 102 wins; the 37 other competitors in today’s race have a total of 59 wins combined!

Ryan Blaney and Kevin Harvick will join Adam Alexander in the FOX Sports booth for today’s race.

Stages one and two of the race are 45 laps each with stage three lasting 110 laps for a total of 200 laps around the mile and a half track.  The drivers can run about 60 laps on a single load of fuel.

Several drivers will have to start the race from the back of the field with Patrick Emerling after a driver change; Brennan Poole, Ryan Ellis, Parker Kligerman, and Garrett Smithley after their crews made some unapproved adjustments to the cars; and as previously announced Sheldon Creed, Josh Berry, Brandon Jones, Kyle Busch, Cole Custer, and Gray Gaulding in backup cars after on track crashes at Auto Club Speedway last week.

On a windy Saturday afternoon, Chandler Smith brings the field down for the green flag start of the race from the outside lane with Justin Allgaier on the inside.  Driver quickly get spread out three and four wide across the track with Chandler Smith getting out in front for the lead.

Lap three, Chandler Smith leads the race with Justin Allgaier in second.

Parker Kligerman brings out the first caution flag of the race when he spins out on lap three after some contact from John Hunter Nemechek.

Only three laps into the race and Kyle Busch is already just outside the top 20 in 22nd place after moving up eleven places.

Chandler Smith brings the field down for the green flag restart from the outside lane with Justin Allgaier alongside on lap seven.  Justin Allgaier and Chandler Smith battle for the lead with Smith taking the spot.

Lap eight, the top five are Chandler Smith, Justin Allgaier, Austin Hill John Hunter Nemechek, and Bret Moffitt.

Lap nine, Kyle Busch has entered the top 20 in 19th place.

Lap 10 Chandler Smith has a narrow lead on Justin Allgaier; John Hunter Nemechek, Austin Hill, and Daniel Hemric round out the top five.

Lap 12, Chandler Smith holds on to the lead with Justin Allgaier two tenths of a second back.  Kyle Smith is in 16th place.

Lap 13, Justin Allgaier passes Chandler Smith for the lead; with the help of some side drafting.

Lap 15, Kyle Busch has moved up to 12th.

Lap 17 Justin Allgaier has pulled out to a half second lead on Chandler Smith.  Smith has some debris on his grille. 

Lap 18, Kyle Busch is just outside the top 10 in eleventh.

Lap 19, the top five are Justin Allgaier, John Hunter Nemechek, Chandler Smith, Austin Hill, and Daniel Hemric.  Even after pulling up behind Nemechek, Chandler Smith still has some debris on his grille.

Lap 21, Kyle Busch has entered the top 10.

Lap 22, John Hunter Nemechek passes Justin Allgaier for the lead with Kyle Busch in tenth, over seven seconds back.

Lap 25, three of the four JR Motorsports cars are in the top 10 with the fourth – Brandon Jones – in 16th after starting at the back of the field.

Lap 30, John Hunter Nemechek has a third of a second lead on Justin Allgaier; Austin Hill, Daniel Hemric, and Chandler Smith round out the top five.

Since restarting the race at the back of the field after spinning out, Parker Kligerman has moved up to 15th.

Cole Custer reports that he is “ungodly free”.

ten laps remain in stage one with John Hunter Nemechek leading the race by over a half second on Justin Allgaier.

The top three drivers have pulled out to a lead of over six seconds on the rest of the field with John Hunter Nemechek in the lead.

Five laps remain in stage one with John Hunter Nemechek in the lead by over half a second; Justin Allgaier, Austin Hill, Chandler Smith, and Riley Herbst rounding out the top five.

Drivers come down pit road for service with Austin Hill winning the race off of pit road.  There’s a tire sitting in the infield grass.  Kyle Busch comes out in fourth place.

The errant tire belongs to Alex Labbe’s pit.

Sheldon Creed was blocked into his pit stall and had to back up in order to get out.

Josh Bilicki was caught speeding on pit road.

Joey Gase is stopped on the track and has to get a push.

Austin Hill brings the field down for the green start of stage two on lap 54 with John Hunter Nemechek getting out in front as the driver spread out three and four wide across the track.

Lap 55 Justin Allgaier battles with John Hunter Nemechek for the lead with Nemechek holding on to the lead.

Lap 56 the top five are John Hunter Nemechek, Justin Allgaier, Chandler Smith, Kyle Busch, and Austin HIll.

There are 26 cars on the lead lap.

Garrett Smithley brings his smoking car down pit road.

Lap 59, John Hunter Nemechek has a third of a second lead on Justin Allgaier; Chandler Smith, Kyle Busch, and Sammy Smith round out the top five.

After bringing out the caution flag on lap three, Parker Kligerman has entered the top 10.

Joey Gase is off the track.

Leader John Hunter Nemechek is reporting a vibration.

Lap 67, John Hunter Nemechek continues to lead the race with Chandler Smith in second; Justin Allgaier, Kyle Busch, and Sam Mayer round out the top five.

Lap 72, Chandler Smith battle with John Hunter Nemechek for the lead with Smith getting back out in front.

Lap 74, Josh Berry gets loose and goes for a ride through the grass but doesn’t hit the wall and brings out the caution flag.

Leaders stay out on the track but John Hunter Nemechek comes down pit road to check the tires.  They are replacing his tires with scuffs.  Josh Berry also comes down pit road.

Chandler Smith brings the field down for the green flag restart on lap 79 and battles with Justin Allgaier for the lead.  Justin Allgaier takes the lead.

Lap 80 the top five are Justin Allgaier, Chandler Smith Austin HIll, Kyle Busch, and Brandon Jones.

NASCAR has charged Justin Allgaier with a restart violation.  He will have to serve a passthrough penalty.  Chandler Smith retakes the lead.

Lap 83, the top five are Chandler Smith, Austin Hill, Kyle Busch, Brandon Jones, and Sammy Smith.

Lap 86, Austin Hill passes Chandler Smith for the lead; Brandon Jones passes Chandler Smith for third.

Lap 88, Kyle Busch passes Chandler Smith for third.

Chandler Smith thinks he has a tire going down and has fallen for fifth place.

The caution flag comes out on lap 89 when Rajah Caruth gets loose and spins out.  He kept the car off the wall but goes sliding down the track.

Austin Hill wins stage two under caution.

Three of the top 10 drivers are still in their teens.

With over 100 laps in stage three, the drivers will have to make at least one pit stop for fuel in order to complete the race.

Drivers come down pit road for service with Austin Hill winning the race off of pit road and Kyle Busch coming out second.  Josh Berry took fuel only and advanced 21 spots.

Ryan Sieg and Jeremy Clements were caught speeding on pit road.

John Hunter Nemechek and Chandler Smith came down pit road with vibrations; they did have a loose tire.

Austin Hill brings the field down for the green flag start of stage three with 98 laps to go; Josh Berry is on the outside.

Kyle Busch takes the lead.  It has been over 500 days since Busch was last behind the wheel of an Xfinity Series car.  He holds a record that may never be broken with 102 Xfinity Series wins.

Lap 101, the top five are Kyle Busch, Chandler Smith, Austin Hill Riley Herbst, and Brandon Jones.

Lap 102, Chandler Smith passes Kyle Busch for the lead.

Lap 103, Chandler Smith has a near half second lead on Kyle Busch; Austin Hill, Brandon Jones, and Josh Berry round out the top five.

Lap 107, after having to serve a pass through penalty for jumping a race start, Justin Allgaier is in the top 10.  All four of the JR Motorsports cars are now in the top 10.

Lap 108, Chandler Smith has pulled out to a one second lead on Kyle Busch.

Lap 112, Chandler Smith has a lead of over a second on Kyle Busch; Austin Hill, Josh Berry, and Sam Mayer round out the top five.

Lap 117, Chandler Smith has a lead of over a second on Kyle Busch; Austin Hill, Sam Mayer, and Justin Allgaier round out the top five.

Lap 125, Chandler Smith continues to lead the race but Kyle Busch has closed the gap to under a second; Austin Hill, Justin Allgaier, and Sam Mayer round out the top five.

Lap 130, Chandler Smith continues to lead the race and has increased his lead on Kyle Busch to over a second.

Lap 131, Austin Hill passes Kyle Busch for second.

Lap 132, Justin Allgaier passes Kyle Busch for third.

Lap 134, the top five are Chandler Smith, Austin Hill, Justin Allgaier, Kyle Busch, and Sam Mayer.

Lap 135, Justin Allgaier passes Austin Hill for second and is 1.75 seconds behind leader Chandler Smith.

Kyle Busch is reporting a tight condition; saying he has “lost it” on both ends.  Busch has fallen to fifth place.

With 61 laps to go, the window to make it to the end of the race on fuel is open and Kyle Busch is the first driver to make a green flag pit stop.

Lap 140, Chandler Smith comes down pit road for his green flag pit stop and gives the lead over to Justin Allgaier.

Lap 141, more drivers come down pit road including leader Justin Allgaier.  Sam Mayer is the new leader.

Lap 143, Sam Mayer makes his green flag pit stop; Josh Berry is the new leader.  Sammy Smith gets sideways coming into pit road.

Lap 144, Josh Berry comes down pit road for his pit stop.

Sammy Smith was caught speeding on pit road.

Anthony Alfredo makes his green flag pit stop to complete the cycle of green flag pit stops.  Austin Hill is the new leader but Chandler Smith passes Hill to retake the lead.

Lap 147, the top five are Chandler Smith, Austin Hill, Kyle Busch, and Justin Allgaier.

Brandon Jones was also caught speeding on pit road.

There are just 14 cars on the lead lap.

Fifty to go; Chandler Smith had a half second lead on Austin Hill with Kyle Busch in third over two seconds back.

When Brandon Jones made his pass through penalty after speeding on pit road, he was caught speeding for a second time and will have to serve a second pass through penalty.

Lap 156, Chandler Smith has increased his lead to over a second and a half on Austin Hill; Kyle Busch, Justin Algaier, and Sam Mayer round out the top five. 

Justin Allgaier’s crew reports that they brought him in too soon and he is about half a lap short on fuel to make it to the end of therace.

Lap 159, Justin Allgaier passes Kyle Busch for third.

Lap 161, Chandler Smith now has a lead of over two seconds on Austin Hill; Justin Allgaier, Kyle Busch, and Sam Mayer round out the top five.

Lap 167, leader Chandler Smith finally gets around Tyler Reddick to put Reddick a lap down; there are now just 12 cars on the lead lap.

Lap 168, the top five are Chandler Smith, Austin Hill, Justin Allgaier, Kyle Busch, and  Sam Mayer.

Thirty to go; Chandler Smith has a two and a half second lead on Austin Hill; Justin Allgaier, Kyle Busch, and Sam Mayer continue to round out the top five.

Lap 175, 25 to go, Chandler Smith continues to run out in front with a lead of over two seconds; Austin Hill, Justin Llgaier, Kyle Busch, and Sam Mayer round out the top five.

Twenty to go, rookie driver Chandler Smith holds on to the lead and is over two and a half seconds in front of Austin Hill; Justin Allgaier, Kyle Busch, and Sam Mayer round out the top five.

Joey Gase is off the track.

Fifteen to go, Chandler Smith leads the race but Austin Hill and  Justin Allgaier have cut into the lead with is now under two seconds.

Ten to go, Chandler Smith’s lead is down to just over a second and a half on Austin Hill; Justin Allgaier, Kyle Busch, and Sam Mayer round out the top five.

Seven to go, Justin Allgaier is on Austin Hill’s bumper with Chandler Smith leading by race by under a second.

Five to go, Chandler Smith is just half a second in front of Austin Hill; Justin Allgaier, Kyle Busch, and Josh Berry round out the top five.

Lap 198, Austin Hill has caught Chandler Smith and passes for the lead.

Austin Hill takes the white flag.

Justin Allgaier passes Chandler Smith for second.

Austin Hill wins his second race of the season!  Kyle Busch finishes in the top five.  And once again, Justin Allgaier comes in second.

With Austin Hill’s Daytona and Las Vegas wins and Kyle Busch winning at Fontana; Richard Childress Racing has won a race in all three cities in the season so far.
