NASCAR’s West Coast Swing is getting off to a bit of a soggy start after Xfiity and Cup Series practice and qualifying were both cancelled due to snow and rain in normally sunny southern California.

The Xfinity Series first ran an Xfinity race in 1997 with Todd Bodine winning the race.  Since then there has been 18 different drivers at Fontana with Kyle Busch leading the way with six wins.

Forty teams brought cars to Fontana in hopes of running the Production Alliance Group 300 with Ryan Vargas and Garrett Smithley being eliminated after the starting lineup was set according to NASCAR’s metric that includes owner points, fastest lap, and finishing position from the last race.

After NASCAR has set the starting lineup, Austin Hill will sit on the pole with John Hunter Nemechek alongside.

Track drying efforts are currently underway in hopes of getting the Xfinity Series race run as scheduled.

Cup Series drivers Austin Dillon, Tyler Reddick, and Ross Chastain will also be a part of the lineup for the race.
