The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has released the nominees for the 95th annual Academy Awards with the sci-fi film “Everything Everywhere All at Once” leading the way with eleven nominations.  After winning a Golden Globe award, Michelle Yeoh becomes the first Asian actor to be nominated for the Best Actress category.

In another Oscar first, film sequels “Top Gun: Maverick” and “Avatar: The Way of Water” have earned Best Film nominations.

At 90 years old, John Williams is not only the oldest nominee, he has broken his own record for most nominations by a living person with 53”.  Walt Disney holds the record for the overall most nominations with 59.

“Top Gun: Maverick”, “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever”, The Banshees of Inisherin”, “Elvis”, and “All Quiet on the Western Front” all garnered multiple nominations.

Jimmy Kemmel returns to host the gala event on March 12.
