It has been over 30 years since the death of Freddie Mercury, but the remaining members of Queen are still going strong; but their music is going even stronger.

Earlier this month, the British rockers announced that their smash hit rock anthem “Bohemian Rhapsody” has hit two billion – yes, that billion with a B! – streams on the streaming service Spotify.

During the Diamond Jubilee, celebrating Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth’s 70th year on the throne, Roger Taylor, Brian May, and Adam Lambert helped to open the festivities with a performance.

Last year Queen became the first British band to have their music certified with a Diamon Award for selling at least 10 million copies when “Bohemian Rhapsody” reached the monstrous milestone by the RIAA – Recording Industry Association of America.

Guitarist and songwriter Brian May spoke on the milestone saying, “this is incredible news. At times like this I have to pinch myself to be sure it’s real. All those wild dreams we had – this is beyond any of them. Huge thanks to all who have believed in us over the years.”

Queen drummer Roger Taylor added, “it’s a wonderful and gratifying thought to know the song has reached out and connected with so many people! We thank you all…………..onwards.”

The Queen hits “Killer Queen”, “We Will Rock You”, “We Are the Champions”, “Another One Bites the Dust”, “Don’t Stop Me Now”, “Somebody to Love”, “Under Pressure” with David Bowie, and “Fat Bottom Girls” have all been certified multi-platinum by the RIAA.  Their “Greatest Hits” album is just shy of a Diamond Award with nine million in sales.
