When legendary Blues man B.B. King performed at the Events Center at the Seneca Allegheny Resort and Casino, I was there.  He sat in a chair and played for a little over an hour.

In June I got the chance to see the other legendary Blues man Buddy Guy, I was expecting something similar; but boy what a surprise…Guy was as energetic if not more so than fellow performers Kingfish and Kenny Wayne Shepherd.

Now 86, Guy has decided that the time has come to take some time for himself and put away the luggage; but first he is launching one last tour with what he is calling the “Damn Right Farewell Tour”.

Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2005, Guy is an eight time Grammy Award winning artist, has a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Recording Academy, has won a record 38 Blues Music Awards, is a Kennedy Center Honor, has a Presidential National Medal of Arts, and has been awarded the Billboard Magazine Century Award for distinguished artistic achievement.

Like B.B. King, Buddy Guy was born in the Mississippi Delta and picked cotton as a child. He was just seven years old when he created his first guitar – it had only two strings.  But it was a move to Chicago in 1957 when a 21 year old Buddy Guy joined Howlin’ Wolf and Muddy Waters to change what the world would come to know as Blues music.

Guy has one remaining performance this year before he begins his Farewell tour in February.
