On December 6, The People’s Choice Awards presented their annual awards for the best in music, film, and television.  The People’s Choice Awards are fully fan voted awards and the only awards program of its kind for adults.

Kenan Thompson is hosting the gala event that will honour Shania Twain as the Music Icon with Shania herself performing some of her biggest hits, Ryan Reynolds has been named the People’s Icon, and Lizzo will receive the People’s Champion Award.

The first award of the night went to Carrie Underwood as the Best Country music act of 2022.

“Don’t Worry Darling” took home the award for Best Drama Movie of 2022.

The award for Comedy Movie Star of 2022 went to Adam Sandler for his performance in “Hustle”.

Selma Blair won the award for Competition Contest of 2022.

Billy Porter introduced Shania Twain for a performance of some of her biggest hits as the 2022 Music Icon winner.  Twain that she always wished that she could inspire people with her music.  She noted that she feels loved and appreciated; adding that she has so much fun over the years.  She told the fans to just be brave and be yourselves.  She closed by telling everyone to be the queen of you.

“Family Feud” host “Steve Harvey” (Kenan) had a little celebrity Feud with the “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills”.

The award for Male TV Star of 2022 went to Noah Schnapp for his role in “Stranger Things”.

The award for the Nighttime Talk Show of 2022 went to “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon”.

The award for Best Reality TV Show went to “The Kardashians”.

After some clips from his films, Ryan Reynolds took the stage and kept saying wow.  He noted, well I guess that I finally tested positive for icon.  He said that it begins and ends with his family.  Reynolds announced that he and his wife would be having their fourth child…soon.  He said that stories are better when those involved are a diverse group.

The ”Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” return to the stage to present the award for Drama TV Star of 2022 to Mariska Hargitay for her role in “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit”.  She noted that there were two very important words in the award “People” (all people) and “Choice”.

The award for Daytime Talk Show of 2022 went to “The Kelly Clarkson Show”.  Clarkson noted that her 20 year career has been because of people voting for her.

The award for Female TV Star of 2022 went to Ellen Pompeo for her role in “Grey’s Anatomy”.

Her own mother announced the 2022 People’s Champion Lizzo.  Lizzo said that when she first heard about the award, she wasn’t sure whether or not to accept.  She noted an icon isn’t about the platform but what you do with that platform.  She shared the award with “the people” – a group of activists.  Lizzo introduced each of them and spoke on how they help to make things better in the world. 

Lauren Spencer Smith gives a performance of “Fingers Crossed”.

The award for The Song of 2022 went to “About Damn Time” by Lizzo.  Instead of a speech she sang part of the song.

The Competition Show of 2022 went to “The Voice”.

The award for Drama TV Show of 2022 went to “Grey’s Anatomy”.
