Wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr has not been on the football field since suffering an ACL injury last season during the Super Bowl; but he has not been out of the news.
A free agent after his injury, Beckham is reportedly shopping teams he is interested in joining once he is able to play again; which is reportedly soon.
However, on November 27, Beckham found himself in the headlines for a totally different, non football related incident.
After boarding an American Airlines flight bound for Los Angeles at Miami International Airport, flight attendants became concerned that Beckham was ill and was “in and out of consciousness”.
Miami-Dade Police were called and after an initial refusal to deplane, Beckham exited the plane with the officers.
According to the flight crew, they became concerned for the passenger when “they tried to wake him to fasten his seat belt” and “he appeared to be coming in and out of consciousness, prior to their departure”.
Later Beckham responded via Twitter saying “Never in my life have I experienced what just happened to me… I’ve seen it alll..” He added it was the “comedy hour”.
American Airlines noted that the plane returned to the gate after, a customer failing to follow crew member instructions and refusing to fasten their seatbelt.”. The flight eventually took off, two hours late sans Beckham. Officers said that Beckham was not arrested and made “other arrangements” after leaving the flight.
