The 2022 NASCAR racing season saw a marked increase in in tickets sales with many of the RV lots selling out and requiring additional space. More races saw sellout crowds in the stands and television viewership was up; despite some fans having difficulty in following the musical channels of race coverage.
On November 9, NASCAR, FOX, and NBC released the schedule for next season and the channels that would be carrying the races.
Once again the FOX and NBC networks will be sharing the broadcast duties with FOX opening the season in Daytona and ending with the road course race at Sonoma in early June. NBC takes over the broadcast duties at Nashville two weeks later and will finish out the season. FOX and NBC will broadcast a total of 21 of the 36 races on the network channels and over a quarter of them will be in prime time.
NASCAR senior vice president of media and productions Brian Herbst spoke on the schedule saying “over the last few years, we’ve worked closely with our broadcast partners, tracks, teams, drivers, and industry stakeholders to deliver some of the most bold and innovative schedules in NASCAR’s history — 2023 is no exception. We will always look for opportunities to expand the distribution of our world-class racing product to NASCAR’s loyal fanbase — by adding more broadcast and primetime races in 2023, our media partners are continuing their commitment to reach as many viewers as possible through their network platforms. This commitment was on full display in 2022, with a four percent year-over-year viewership increase for the NASCAR Cup Series and we look forward to continuing the momentum in 2023.”
Craftsman returns to take over sponsorship of the Truck Series and once again all of the races will be broadcast on FS1 with the exception of the race at North Wilkesboro which will air on FOX. Thirteen of the 22 Truck Series races will be in prime time.
