The past few years NASCAR has made a number of changes to the schedule for the Camping World Truck, Xfinity, and Cup Series; including more road course races and even adding a street course race next season and making a return to tracks of the past.
Next season, the NASCAR Whelen European Series will also include some unique races going over the lake and through the woods to help celebrate 75 years of NASCAR racing. With a total of 24 championship races, the Whelan EuroNASCAR series features six Grand Prix races and two All Star races.
Last season the Euro Series set records across the board from fans in the stands to at lease 30 cars in every race. The Euro Series is looking to continue bigger and better during the anniversary season.
Thanks to the efforts of Hendrick Motor Sports, NASCAR will be a part of the 24 Hours of Le Mans as a part of the Garage 56 program for the first time in its history.
NASCAR Vice President, International Chad Seigler spoke on the upcoming season saying, “Europe is an important market for NASCAR and the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series will play a key role in NASCAR’s 75th anniversary celebration. Next season will give us the opportunity to honor Whelen Euro Series history through milestone races at Valencia and Brands Hatch. We’ll also have our eyes towards the future of NASCAR with the Garage 56 program at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. From traditional races to the unique new NASCAR Arctic Ice Race, we’re excited for the opportunities the Whelen Euro Series will give us to showcase NASCAR to race fans across Europe.”
NWES President CEO Jérome Galpin added, “2023 will be a season to remember for NASCAR in Europe! A season that makes history, starting with the first ever NASCAR race on ice and passing through amazing events across Europe! I would like to thank our great Circuit partners from Valencia, Brands Hatch, Vallelunga, Most, Oschersleben, Zolder and Grobnik for all their enthusiasm and continuous efforts to build incredible American events that delight more and more race fans. We are also very excited to be part of the amazing NASCAR Garage 56 program that will for sure draw the eyes of millions of fans in Le Mans, Brands Hatch and Goodwood!”
The season kicks off in Finland March 4 and 5 with a historic race on the ice with the Arctic Ice Race! The season ends in October in Belgium.
