Racing is a family sport that frequently a generational sport.   There have been numerous groups of brothers racing together and quite a number of sons following fathers with some occasions of fathers and sons racing at the same time.  We have even seen a husband and wife duo appear in the same race together when Jessica and Stewart Friesen ran in the same Truck Series race.

BUT, while there are a few women racers, there has never been mother and daughter pair racing together…until now!

When the ARCA Menards Series travels to the Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on October 14, Sarah and Bridget Burgess will be the first mother and daughter duo to run in the same race.  eBay Motors – where Sarah works as a senior business development and partnership manager – will sponsor both of the women in the race.

Normally supporting her daughter as the BMI Racing team owner and crew chief on race day, will be driving the number 97 car.

Sarah spoke on the upcoming historic event saying, “a lot of work has gone into this moment, and it’s surreal to know that Bridget and I will both be behind the wheel on the same track in a matter of weeks.  It’s incredible to have the support of eBay Motors. Not only is it a leading brand for professional racers and casual builders — I can say from personal experience that it’s also a community of people who genuinely care about racing and car culture.”

GM of P&A eBay Motors also spoke on the upcoming event saying, “the eBay Motors team is made up of car enthusiasts like Sarah.  Our passion is to support and engage in the automotive community, whether it’s sponsoring events that draw car lovers nationwide or being the source for hard-to-find performance parts. It’s incredible that Sarah and her daughter Bridget will make NASCAR history together. We’re eager to watch their journey to Las Vegas and will be cheering them on from the stands.”

ARCA Menards Series West director Chris Wright said, “we have known Sarah as a crew chief, team owner and supportive parent to her daughter Bridget, and now we can’t wait to see her climb into the car to race in Las Vegas.  This will be a historic moment for our sport, as we’ll have the first mother-daughter pair racing against each other in a NASCAR touring series division.”
