In part two of a triple header weekend, the Xfinity Series takes on the “tricky triangle” of Pocono Raceway for the Explore the Pocono Mountains 225.
Thirty-nine teams brought cars to Pocono for a 38 spot starting grid.
The Xfinity Series has seen seven different winners this season with eight races remaining in the regular season.
On an early Saturday morning, the drivers take to the track for a 20 minute practice session before making a single qualifying lap around the two and a half mile track.
Ronnie Bassett Jr is the first car on the track to make a qualifying run and posts a time of 55.366 seconds.
With a two and a half mile track, NASCAR is sending drivers out on the track three at a time 15 seconds apart to make their qualifying runs.
IndyCar driver Sage Karam makes a return to Pocono after a seven year absence after being involved in a wreck in an IndyCar race that resulted in the death of a fellow driver Justin Wilson.
After a wreck during practice, Brennan Poole does not make a qualifying run and did not make the race. JJ Yeley also did not make a qualifying run but will make the race.
Sammy Smith is the first driver to break the 54 second mark with a time of 53.620 seconds; beating Noah Gragson’s time by over half a second to put him at the top of the board.
Several of the teams are reporting that the cars are pegging the water temperature line on their qualifying runs.
After winning the race at New Hampshire last week, Justin Allgaier posts a time of 53.359 to put his number seven car on the pole with Ty Gibbs starting alongside on the front row. This is Allgaier’s seventh career pole.

Cole Custer is the only driver in the field who has won a race at Pocono.
Stage one and two of the race are 20 laps each with stage three lasting 50 laps for a total of 90 laps around the two and a half mile track.
Noah Gragson is reporting that his clutch is a bit sticky.

AJ Allmendinger bushes the wall but the track stays green.
And for the first time in seven years, Sage Karem makes it through turn one after the fatal accident in an IndyCar. Karam noted that he felt it would help him with the healing process.
Lap two, Justin Allgaier has a third of a second lead on Ty Gibbs.
Alex Labbe and Rajah Caruth bring out the caution flag on lap two when they get into a big crash and hit the inside wall after Caruth got into Labbe’s rear left quarter. Labbe’s car got airborne and spun in the air. Both drivers are out of their cars…and out of the race.
Sam Mayer has to make an unscheduled trip down pit road with a flat tire.

Lap 10, Sage Karam brushes the wall in turn one but the track stays green.
Lap eleven, Justin Allgaier has pulled out to a lead of over a second on Brandon Jones; AJ Allmendinger, Sheldon Creed, and Austin Hill round out the top five.
Rajah Caruth admits that he “just messed up” and is mad at himself for wrecking.
Ty Gibbs has re-entered the top five.
Lap 14, Justin Allgaier has a lead of nearly a second and a half on Brandon Jones; AJ Allmendinger, Sheldon Creed, and Ty Gibbs round out the top five.
Lap 16, Justin Allgaier has a near second and a half lead on Brandon Jones; AJ Allmendinger, Sheldon Creed, and Ty Gibbs round out the top five.
With a lead of nearly a second and a half, Justin Allgaier wins stage one for his sixth stage win of the season.

Lap 29, Sam Mayer makes a second trip down pit road with a tire issue.
Lap 30, Justin Allgaier is back in the top five with team mate Noah Gragson leading the race.
Sam Mayer is the only driver on the track not on the lead lap.
Lap 31, Noah Gragson has just a tenth of a second lead on Ty Gibbs; Brandon Jones, Sheldon Creed, and Josh Berry round out the top five with Justin Allgaier in sixth.
Lap 35, the drivers have gotten single file and are spread out through the field with Noah Ggagson leading the way.
Lap 137, Noah Gragson has increased his lead to over a second on Ty Gibbs; Brandon Jones, Sheldon Creed, and Josh Berry round out the top five.
Justin Allgaier reports that his right rear is way overheated; adding that when they freed the car up, they freed it up in all the wrong places.

JR Motorsports drivers have 21 stage wins so far this season including 16 of the last 18 stages.
Drivers come down pit road except Austin Hill and Myatt Snider who stayed out on the track. Noah Gragson wins the race off of pit road.
Austin Hill brings the field down for the green flag start of stage three from the outside lane with Austin Hill getting out in front but Noah Gragson comes up to take the lead.
Myatt Snider pulls out and waves off his stage three start after a report from Noah Gragson that something was sparking under the car.
The caution flag comes out on lap 47 after a big crash that puts Jeb Burton on his roof and sliding down the track. A loud cheer comes from the crowd after the safety workers report that Jeb Burton is fine. Safety workers will turn the car back upright before getting burton out of the car. NASCAR has red flagged the race while they get Jeb Burton taken care of. Ronnie Bassett Jr, Jeremy Clements, Ricky Stenhouse Jr and Santino Ferrucci were also involved with Ferrucci sending Burton into the wall and over on the roof.
The car is back on its wheels and Jeb Burton is out of the car and walking to the ambulance.
After a similar incident in 2015, Pocono extended the wall for safety issues; otherwise Burton would have hit the end of the pit road wall and the wreck could have been much worse.
NASCAR has pulled the red flag and displayed the caution flag. A few drivers come down pit road for service.
Santino Ferrucci is out of the infield care center and is fine. In speaking with NBC Sports crew, Ferrucci said that he made a mistake. An IndyCar driver, Ferrucci is unfamiliar with how the air flow works around the cars.
Jeb Burton is out of the infield care center and ok; he thanked the safety crew for taking care of him.
Noah Gragson brings the field down for the green flag restart on lap 50 but it is Ty Gibbs that gets out in front for the lead.
The top five are Ty Gibbs, Sheldon Creed, Noah Gragson, Brandon Jones, and Daniel Hemric.
Sammy Smith brings out the caution flag on lap 53 when he spins out after getting loose. The back of the car hit the wall. Smith also said that he was trying to learn the air.
Several drivers come down pit road for service as they look to make it their final pit stop of the race. After taking fuel only, Ty Gibbs wins the race off of pit road. Noah Gragson in seventh is the first driver on four fresh tires.
Justin Allgaier was caught speeding on pit road. It is his first speeding penalty of the season.
Brett Moffitt brings the field down for the green flag restart on lap 57 with Riley Herbst alongside. Herbst gets out in front for the lead as the drivers get three and four wide across the track.
The top five are Riley Herbst, Josh Berry, Sheldon Creed, Sam Mayer, and Brett Moffitt. Noah Gragson has moved up from 12th to sixth since the race restart.
Riley Herbst leads the race with Josh Berry on his bumper and looking to challenge for the lead with 32 laps remaining in the race.
All 30 of the cars on the track are on the lead lap.
Lap 59, Riley Herbst leads the race with Josh Berry just a tenth of a second back; Sheldon Creed, Noah Gragson, and Ty Gibbs round out the top five.
Lap 60, Josh Berry passes Riley Herbst for the lead.
Lap 61, Noah Gragson passes Sheldon Creed for third.
After his speeding penalty, Justin Allgaier has moved up to 12th place.
Lap 64, Noah Gragson passes Riley Herbst for second with Josh Berry leading the race.
Lap 65, Josh Berry leads the race with Noah Gragson in second; Ty Gibbs, Riley Herbst, and Sheldon Creed round out the top five.
With 24 laps to go, Sheldon Creed and Riley Herbst battle for fourth.

With 23 to go, Noah Gragson begins to battle Josh Berry for the lead; Ty Gibbs is one second back in third.
Brandon Jones believes that he has a tire going down and has to come down pit road for fresh tires.

Twenty to go! Noah Gragson has a lead of just over half a second on Ty Gibbs; Josh Berry is one second back in third with Sheldon Creed and AJ Allmendinger rounding out the top five over five seconds back.
Justin Allgaier has entered the top 10. He report a very tight condition in his car.
As evening falls and the sun begins to set, track and air temperatures are dropping.
Lap 75, Noah Gragson leads the race with Ty Gibbs in second; Josh Berry, AJ Allmendinger, and Sheldon Creed round out the top five.
Lap 76, Ty Gibbs has caught up to leader Noah Gragson and is beginning to challenge for the lead.
Lap 79, Noah Gragson has a lead of just a tenth of a second on Ty Gibbs; third place driver Josh Berry is nearly four seconds back with AJ Allmendinger and Sheldon Creed rounding out the top five. All four of the JR Motorsports cars are in the top 10.
Ten to go and Noah Gragson has opened up the gap on Ty Gibbs to nearly a third of a second.
Lap 81, Ty Gibbs has closed the gap on leader Noah Gragson.
Lap 83, leaders are approaching slower traffic.

Three to go, Noah Gragson holds on to a very narrow lead on Ty Gibbs with Josh Berry in third five seconds back; AJ Allmendinger and Sheldon Creed round out the top five.
