As expected, NASCAR officials assessed a couple of big penalties to Cup Series teams in the weekly penalty report.

During the race, the number five Hendricks Motorsports car driven by Kyle Larson lost a wheel after making a pit stop.  As a result of the infraction; crew chief Cliff Daniels, pit crew member Donnie Tasser, and pit crew member Brandon Johnson have all been suspended for the next four Cup Series events.  HMS will not appeal the decision.

During pre-qualifying inspection the number 51 Rick Ware Racing car driven by Cody Ware failed the inspection process four times and not only lost the opportunity to qualify the car;  it also had to start the race from the back of the field and serve a pass through penalty – driving down pit road at pit road speed – once the green flag had waved.  In addition, both owner Rick Ware and driver Cody Ware have been docked 20 Cup Series points.

NASCAR will return after a weekend off for Father’s Day.
