For the first time this season in the NASCAR Cup Series a driver will miss the race due to the coronavirus.
On Thursday morning, RFK Racing announced that the driver of the number 17 car, Chris Buescher has tested positive for the virus and will miss the race at World Wide Technology at Gateway.
This is the first time that the Cup Series will be racing at Gateway.
RFK has tapped Camping World Truck Series driver Zane Smith to drive the number 17 car at Gateway. This will be a debut in the Cup Series for the three time CWTS winner.
Zane Smith drives the number 38 truck for Front Row Motorsports.
Buescher expects to be behind the wheel for the road course race at Sonoma next week.
Currently 21st in the point standings, last week Buescher found himself upside down after a wreck with Daniel Suarez; but walked away from the wreck once the car was set back on its wheels.
