Trackhouse Racing is one of the newest additions to the stable of NASCAR teams. Last year when majority owner Justin Marks launched the Cup Series team, he signed Mexican driver Daniel Suarez – the only internationally born driver in the Cup Series.
Latin Music icon Pitbull has joined Trackhouse as a minority owner and has even entertained the NASCAR crowd at the track.
This year, Trackhouse added a second team with “watermelon man” Ross Chastain who has brought Trackhouse their first wins.
Now Trackhouse is launching Project 91, an initiative that will bring internationally renowned drivers to NASCAR and the Cup Series.
Later this year, Trackhouse will field the number 91 Chevrolet ZL1 for at least one race. Trackhouse has plans to expand the program in the future.
Trackhouse notes that the program will bring stars from the other racing formats around the world to NASCAR.
Trackhouse Racing’s Justin Marks spoke on the program saying, “PROJECT91’s mission is to activate the intersection point of NASCAR racing and global motorsport culture.”
Marks added, “I truly believe the Next Gen car represents an opportunity for NASCAR to enter the global professional motorsport conversation. We now have a race vehicle with international technological relevance where world-class drivers from other disciplines can compete at NASCAR’s highest level without the steep learning curve that the previous generation cars required. Vehicle advancements used in other forms of motorsports, such as diffusers, independent rear suspension, the sequential gearbox, and other more common components, have resulted in a platform much less reliant on intimate proprietary stock car knowledge, which has historically made any transition to NASCAR difficult.
He continued, “with the formation of PROJECT91, Trackhouse has opened the door for global champions while beginning the process of scaling into an internationally recognized racing brand.”
Trackhouse will announce the first driver in the program will be revealed soon.
