Last year the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) certified the Don McLean song “American Pie” triple platinum.
This week, the Canadian Music Industry honoured McLean with a multi platinum award for “American Pie” and a platinum award for “Vincent”.
It has been 50 years since McLean released the song that tells the tragic tale of the plane crash that took the life of Richie Valens, The Big Bopper, and Buddy Holley. He is celebrating the milestone with an anniversary tour.
