Judy Garland died when she was just 47 years old in 1969, four years before music artist and composer Rufus Wainwright was born.

This year would have been Garland’s 100th birthday and in celebration of the lady Wainwright considers the biggest gay icon, he has a very special performance planned that includes some special guests.

Rufus Does Judy is set for June 5, 7, 8, and 10 at the City Winery in New York City and on June 16 and 17 at the City Winery in Chicago.

For the New York City shows, Wainwright will include Laura Benanti on June 5, Justin Vivian Bond on June 8, and Molly Ringwald on June 10; with more guests coming soon.

The shows will feature songs that span Garland’s career and will include well known songs; as well as, some not so well known songs.

Last year Rufus Wainwright performed “Rufus Does Judy” at Carnegie Hall.  That concert has been recorded and will be released on June 10 as a part of the 100th birthday celebration.
