Tragedy has struck the NASCAR team David Gilliland Racing when one of their haulers was involved in a motor vehicle accident in Longview, Texas on the way to Phoenix Raceway for this weekend.
Hauler driver Steven Stotts was pronounced dead at the scene but passengers John Zaverl and Michael Mizzelle are listed in stable condition at a local hospital; as well as, the driver of the other vehicle involved in the accidnet.
Little detail of the accident that occurred around 5:30am local time are available but the hauler ended up on its side and the racing fuel in the hauler ignited after the hauler had rolled over. Initially the westbound traffic was halted, but later the eastbound traffic was also halted in order to get the highway cleaned up.
David Gillialnd Racing fields the number one truck driven by Hailie Deegan and the number 15 truck driven by Tanner Gray in the Camping World Truck Series and the number 17 ARCA Menards Series car driven by Taylor Gray.
