The Camping World Truck Series gets their 2022 racing season started with a single truck qualifying run in preparation for the NextEra Energy 250.

The drivers will race under the lights on the high banks of Daytona International Speedway as Speedweek continues to start the 2022 NASCAR season.

There are several new teams this season and several more teams who have new drivers as drivers have moved up to the Xfinity and Cup Series.

Forty-one teams have brought trucks to the track to fill 36 spots in the race.

The first driver on the track is driver/owner Jennifer Jo Cobb with a time of 51.39 seconds.

This year, NASCAR brought a whole new car to the Cup Series, but they also made some adjustments to the Truck Series vehicles; making them all more resemble the vehicles fans drive on the streets.

After all 42 trucks made a qualifying run; Jordan Anderson, Clay Greenfield, Matt jaskol, Chase Purdy, and Jennifer Jo Cobb have failed to qualify for the race.

Riley Herbst is the first of the top 10 drivers to get out on the track and runs a time of 51.04 seconds.

After his water temperatures rose to over 240 degrees, Lawless Alan brought his truck to a stop on the backstretch and aborted his second run. He will start the race in tenth place.

With a time of 50.245 seconds, Ty Majeski puts his number 66 truck on the pole for his first career pole in the truck series. John Hunter Nemechek will start alongside on the front row with a time of 50.308 seconds.

The race is 100 laps with stages one and two lasting 20 laps each and stage three lasting 60 laps for a total of 250 miles around the two and a half mile track.

Cup Series driver Kurt Busch joins Vince Welch and Michael Waltrip on the FOX Sports broadcast booth.

In his first year as a full time driver, Ty Majeski brings the field down for the green flag start of the race from the inside lane and jumps out in front to take the lead with John Hunter Nemechek right behind him.

Lap two, the top five are Ty Majeski, John Hunter Nemechek, Tyler Ankrum, Corey Heim, and Chandler Smith. Tyler Ankrum passes John Hunter Nemechek for second.

Lap five, Ty Majeski continues to lead the race with John Hunter Nemechek in second; Tyler Ankrum, Chandler Smith, and Corey Heim round out the top five.

Lap seven, after starting the race in 27th place, Hailie Deegen is just outside the top 10 in eleventh.

Lap eight, Ty Majeski holds a narrow lead on John Hunter Nemechek. This is the first time in his career that Majeski has led laps on the race track.

Lap 12, Ty Majeski has led every lap so far; John Hunter Nemechek, Chandler Smith, Corey Heim, and Stewart Friesen round out the top five. All 36 trucks are still on the lead lap.

Drivers are getting three wide across the track in a battle for positon before the end of stage one.

All of the top five drivers are in a Toyota. The Kyle Busch Motorsports drivers are two, three, and four.

Lap 15, Ty Majeski leads the race with John Hunter Nemechek, Chandler Smith, Corey Heim, and Stewart Friesen rounding out the top five.

With four laps remaining in stage one, the drivers have gotten single file with Ty Majeski leading the way.

With just one lap remaining in stage one, Ty Majeski falls through the field to seventh place.

Stage one winner John Hunter Nemechek won more stages than any other driver last season.

As the drivers were coming to the green checkered flag, Tate Fogleman saved his truck; reporting a flat tire.

Drivers come down pit road for service with some taking fuel only.

Corey Heim and Dean Thompson make contact on pit road causing some damage to Heim’s number 51 truck.

Lap 30, Stewart Friesen takes the lead after a push from Ty Majeski.

The drivers qualified for the race running times of over 50 seconds; thanks to the draft during the race they are running times in the 48 second range.

Lap 33, the top five are Ty Majeski, Stewart Friesen, Derek Kraus, John Hunter Nemechek, and Tyler Ankrum.

Lap 35, Derek Kraus takes the lead with Tyler Ankrum in second.

Jason White was caught speeding on pit road, Riley Herbst had an uncontrolled tire during the stop, and Blaine Perkins has a crew member over the walll too soon.

Lap 61, Corey Heim continues to have issues with his truck and is working his way to pit road with a flat tire.

Lap 64, Jack Wood loses control of his truck and spins out hitting the wall; bringing out the first caution flag of the race for an on track incident.

Johnny Sauter’s team takes his truck to the garage and is out of the race.

Drivers come down pit road for service. The drivers can not complete stage three on a single load of fuel and are now within their fuel window. Many of the crews are doing fuel only.

The caution flag comes out on lap 79 for a flat tire on Corey Heim’s truck. There is significant damage to the front of Heim’s truck. Part of the tire carcas is rolling around on the track.

Some of the drivers back in the field come down pit road for service with 19 laps remaining in the race. Leaders stay out.

Ten to go, drivers are two wide bumper to bumper in a battle for position.

Nine to go, leaders have gotten single file with Ben Rhodes leading the way.

Drivers are two and three wide after the first few drivers.

Eight to go, drivers are beginning to make some moves to try and get to the front.

Seven to go, Ben Rhodes leads the race with team mate Christian Eckes in second; John Hunter Nemechek, Zane Smith,, and Riley Herbst round out the top five.

Six to go, drivers continue to battle for position with Ben Rhodes leading the race.

Five to go, drivers are getting three and four wide. John Hunter Nemechek went below the double yellow line.

Christian Eckes takes the lead with John Hunter Nemechek in second.

Four to go, drivers continue to shuffle with drivers three and four wide across the track.

NASCAR reports that all is good, Nemechek did not improve his position when he went below the “no go” line.

Three to go Christian Eckes lead the race with Tyler Ankrum in second and John Hnter Nemechek in third.

Two to go, the field is packed tightly together with some drivers three and four wide.

Trucks are everywhere as the white flag and the yellow flag come out together.

NASCAR reports that the white flag did not come out prior to the caution flag waving for a wreck.

The race goes into overtime.

Tyler Ankrum, Matt Crafton, Hailie Deegan, Derek Kraus, John Hunter Nemechek,Parker Kligerman, Chandler Smith, Austin Wayne Self, Jesse Little, Austin Hill, Blaine Perkins, Riley Herbst, Thad Moffitt, Lawless Alan, Stewart Friesen, Colby Howard, Ty Majeski, and Grant Enfinger were all involved in the crash.

NASCAR has displayed the red flag, temporarily stopping the race in order to get the track cleared and cleaned up.

After a delay of around 10 minutes, NASCAR pulls the red flag and displays the caution. The drivers begin moving once again.

Some of the drivers may be a bit close on fuel.

Christian Eckes brings the field down for the two lap overtime shootout. Christian Ecked gets out in front after a push from Ben Rhodes.

Zane Smith also got a push from Parker Kligerman and gets out in front for the lead.

Zane Smith takes the white flag.

The caution flag comes out after another wreck involving Jason White and Kris Wright. Zane Smith wins the race under caution. Smith has secured himself a spot in the first round of the playoffs with the win.
