With just four days until the NASCAR Cup Series begins with the Busch Light Clash in the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum in Los Angeles: NASCAR continues to add to the event.
Eric Dickson and Jim Abbott were named grand marshals for the race. NASCAR is expected to name more grand marshals for the historic race at the Coliseum.
Eric Dickerson is an NFL Hall of Fame football player who spent eleven season in the NFL playing for four teams including the Los Angeles Rams. He holds the record for single season rushing yards with 2,105 while a member of the Rams.
Jim Abbott was a pitcher in Major League Baseball; spending 10 years as a pitcher in the league, part of the time with the Los Angeles Angles. The left handed pitcher was born without a right hand. He pitched a no-hitter in 1993.
Abbott spoke on being named a grand marshal saying, “one One thing I’ve never done is see a short-track NASCAR race, and this weekend I’m so excited to go up to the LA Coliseum and be part of history. I’m so honored to be a grand marshal.”
In other Clash news, UFC President Dana White is pairing up with Trackhouse Racing for a sponsorship deal for Ross Chastan’s car in the Clash.
During the 2021 season, Justin Marks of Trackhouse Racing purchased Chip Ganassi’s NASCAR shop and equipment. This season he is adding a second car with “watermelon man” Chastain driving the number one car. Howler Head Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey – which White also owns – will be the primary sponsor for Chastain in 2022 beginning with the Clash.
White spoke on the partnership saying, “I love the vision that Justin Marks has for Trackhouse.” Adding, “I’m excited to be a part of it and my two favorite things are fast cars and Howler Head. I’m so excited that we’ll be making our first NASCAR appearance this weekend. This is an absolute badass car, and I can’t wait to see it compete on the track at the Coliseum on Sunday.”
Justin Marks also spoke on the new partnership saying, “partnering with someone like Dana is what this Trackhouse mission is all about. We want to transcend our sport, work with innovative minds and powerful brands, and Dana White, along with Howler Head and UFC exemplify that. Dana’s influence, vision, and passion is inspiring and I’m looking forward to working with him on amplifying both our brands and hopefully along the way, learning from him as well.” Latin music star Pitbull is also a part owner in Trackhouse.
