Last week Richard Petty Motorsports sold a majority stake in his racing team to GMS Racing.

On December 7, Petty GMS Motorsports have announced that they will field two full time cars in the NASCAR Cup Series next season.

With two full time charters that guarantee entry into each of the 36 races next season, Ty Dillon and Erik Jones will become team mates for the 2022 season.

Petty GMS used the NASCAR Hall of Fame as a backdrop for the unveiling of the new team name, logo, and car designs.

Ty Dillon will drive the number 42 car; while Erik Jones will return to the number 43 car for a second season.

Mike Beam will serve as the team president with Dave Elenz serving as Dillon’s crew chief and Jerame Donley comes to the team as Jones’ new crew chief.

Petty GMS Motorsports also plans on fielding an entry into the Camping World Truck Series and the ARCA Menards Series with more details to follow at a later date.
