On November 15, the Theater Hall of Fame for Lifetime Achievement in the American Theater will celebrate 50 years with the 2021 Hall of Fame induction ceremony at the Gershwin Theatre with award winning actor and performer Joey Grey as the host.

This year’s inductees are Anna Deavere Smith, Leslie Uggams, Victor Garber, Alan Menken, Bob Crowley, and Gerald Freedman in a posthumous induction.

Originally Lynn Nottage was scheduled to be inducted but a schedule conflict has postponed the induction until next year.

Brian Stokes Mitchell, Alfred Uhry, Daryl Roth, Jack O’Brien, John Benjamin Hickey,, and Stephen Schwartz will also be a part of the induction ceremony.

Founded in 1971 by James M. Nederlander, Earl Blackwell, and Gerard Oestreicher, inductees into the Theater Hall of Fame must have at least 25 years in the Broadway theater, have appeared in at least five major Broadway productions, or be either a leader in Off-Broadway for a pioneer in regional theater.  Inductees are selected by members of the American Theater Critics Association and members of the Hall of Fame.
