Season 30 of “Dancing with the Stars” has barely begun, but the show has already seen some controversy including its first cases of the Covid-19 virus.
Long time fans of the show have expressed their displeasure with Olivia Jade being a part of the show since she was involved in a college tuition scandal.
Last week it was revealed that professional dancer Cheryl Burke had contracted the Covid virus and has been placed in quarantine. During the week, Burke’s partner Cody Brigsby has also announced that he has tested positive for the virus. Cody and Cheryl have not been eliminated from the competition, but will be performing remotely.
This week the couples will be dancing to the music of Britney Spears.
While he tested negative, Derek Hough is not at the judges table tonight due to exposure to someone with the virus.
Amanda and Alan get the night of dancing started off with a Cha Cha. Len said that Amanda coped very well with her Latin dance; adding that he wasn’t excited. Bruno said that Amanda oozes star quality; adding that she should put more into her hips. Carrie Ann called Amanda stunning; adding that the dance was clean and sharp. Amanda and Alan scored 24 points for their dance.
Iman and Daniella perform a Tango. Bruno called it a nice solid piece of Tango; adding that Iman needs to work on making the dance smoother. Carrie Ann said that she didn’t expect what she saw. Len said that he could see Iman was trying to work on his feet; adding that Iman always gives it his all. Iman and Daniella scored 19 points for their dance.
After beingsaved last week, Christine and Pasha dance a Paso Doble. Carrie Ann said that she was go glad they saved them. Len said that they danced a clean Paso. Bruno noted that Christine really went for it. Christine and Pasha scored 21 points for their dance.
JoJo and Jenna perform an Argentine Tango. Len called it an extremely well crafted routine; adding that JoJo is always on point. Bruno said that JoJo always knows how to hit it; adding that there was too much staccato. Carrie Ann said that there is something very powerful about JoJo’s dances. JoJo and Jenna scored 24 points for their dance.
Kenya and Brandon Tango. Bruno said that Kenya is back on track; adding that she glided across the floor. Carrie Ann called the performance beautiful; adding that she was refined and elegant. Len noted that the hold was a bit loose; but added they captured the flavour of the dance. Kenya and Brandon scored 21 points for their dance.
Real life couple Brian and Sharna Tango. Carrie Ann said that Brian has finally arrived in the Ballroom; adding that it was amazing. Len said that the frame was overall good but the footwork was poor. Bruno agreed that the footwork needs some work. Briand and Sharna scored 19 points for their dance.
Melora and Artem dance a Cha Cha. Melora says that she is an actor not a dancer. Len said that it was the Artem he knows and loves; adding that it was a great performance. Bruno said that it was like a veil had been lifted form Melora. Carrie Ann said that Melora made it look light and easy. Melora and Artem scored 23 points for their dance.
Melanie C and Gleb Tango to “Toxic”. Bruno said that Melanie was flying high. Carrie Ann noted that the dance was filled with content; adding that she needs to breathe. Len said that it took a while to get cracking and was really good at the end. Len called Melanie a terrifc dancer. Melanie and Gleb scored 22 points for their dance.
Jimme and Emma danced a Salsa. Jimmie face timed his family during rehearsals this week. Carrie Ann noted that real men do cry; it shows their sensative. She had an issue with his fists. Len liked the easy action but felt the steps were too big. Bruno said that when Jimmie let loose, everything flowed. Jimmie’s wife is pregnant and due anytime. Jimmie and Emma scored 20 points for their dance.
Olivia and Val danced a Tango. Val gave Olivia a cake for her birthday during rehearsals. Len called it a proper Tango; adding that it is what he wants to see. Bruno said that they were on it; adding that Olivia has become a beautiful dancer. Carrie Ann noted that it was the best dance of the night; adding Olivia is blossoming. Olivia and Val scored 24 points for their dance.
With positive Covid tests, Cody and Cheryl perform a Jazz routine from their own homes in a live remote performance. Bruno admired the commitment; adding that he wished they were here. Carrie Ann noted that they had to judge according to what they saw; adding that it wasn’t as great as it could be. Noting that he wasn’t sure how it would work, Len thought that under the circumstances they did a great job. Cody and Cheryl scored 18 points for the lowest score of the night so far.
The DWTS pros are heading out on tour later this year.
Suni Lee and Sasha dance a Foxtrot. Carrie Ann noted that Suni is definitely pushing her boundaries. Len said that they didn’t capture the Foxtrot; adding that it was too steamy. Bruno liked that they played with the character. Suni and Sasha scored 21 points for their dance.
Matt and Lindsay danced a Tango that Matt dedicated to his Mom. Len congratulated them that it was a full on routine. Bruno said that they did a very good job; adding that the dance had lots of content. Carrie Ann agreed with her fellow judges. Bruno falls out of his chair. Matt and Lindsay scored 20 points for their dance.
Closing out the night of dancing are The Miz and Witney Salsa to the smash hit “Oops, I Did it ” that was filled with lots of tricks. Bruno told Mike whatever is is, keep going. Carrie Ann wanted to see a more relaxed Mike. Len noted that Mike has no dance experience and did a fantastic job. Mike and Witney scored 22 points for their dance.
