In an outdoor event to welcome back Broadway, Playbill, The Broadway League, and the Times Square Alliance have joined forces for Curtain Up! The three day event will feature 22 separate events along Broadway between 45th and 48th Streets beginning September 17.

All events are free and will include a Jimmy Awards reunion concert, a Vive! Broadway celebration, seven productions by playwrights of colour, and performances from hit Broadway shows. Broadway production performances include Ain’t Too Proud”, “Aladdin”, “Caroline, or Change”, “Chicago”, “Come From Away”, “Company”, “Dear Evan Hansen”, “Diana the Musical”, “Girl from the North Country”, “Hadestown”, “Jagged Little Pill”, “The Lion King”, “Mrs Doubtfire”, “The Phantom of the Opera”, “Six”, “Tina: The Tina Turner Musical”, “Waitress”, “Wicked”, “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child”, “Lackawanna Blues”, “Pass Over”, “Thoughts of a Colored Man”, and “To Kill a Mockingbird”.

The festivities begin at 11am on September 17 with the Broadway Podcast Network at the Playbill Piano Bar.

The events officially kick off at noon in Duffy Square with speakers and performers. The festivities conclude at Duffy Square beginning at 11am with “This is Broadway” – a concert to celebrate the return of theatrical events across New York City.

Playbill has created a special program that will be handed out in Times Square.

All state and federal Covid protocols will be in place during the events.
