When the NASCAR Cup Series drivers take to the track for the beginning of the 2022 season, the drivers will be racing in a newly designed car – the Next Gen car.

Along with the numerous changes to the cars that fans cannot see is one that everyone will notice – a new location for the car numbers.

Currently the car numbers are centered on the side of the door; for the new season, the numbers get moved forward, sitting just behind the front wheels.  Sponsors depend on space all over the car to advertise.  The Next Gen car features a smaller front quarter panel.  Moving the number forward frees up some space for logos.
